What is Microneedling?

There are many ways to even more intensively take care of our skin.

Today I would like to go deeper into the skin (and I mean quite literally ☺) with the so-called Microneedling.

A few years ago, I started talking to a young lady in a perfumery who was trained as a beautician and make-up artist at the time. She told me about a treatment that would refine the complexion of my skin issues and reduce my wrinkles. Since, as often mentioned, my skin tends to dryness, my skin looked a bit pale and wrinkled despite daily care. That’s why I wanted to learn more about this treatment.

What is Microneedling?

Microfine needles made from Surgical Steel (penetration depth 0.5-1.5 mm) are used to specifically add micro-injuries to the treatment area, which activate a wound healing mechanism of the skin. The grooving of highly concentrated active ingredients enhances the effect of the Microneedling. Active substances can thus be well absorbed and also work in the deeper layers of the skin. As a result, the new production of collagen, elastin and hyaluron acid is stimulated, in a way that improves the complete appearance of the skin.

Sun-damaged skin that usually causes hyperpigmentation can be corrected. Thus, this treatment achieves wrinkle reduction and skin rejuvenation without surgery.

Even people suffering from scars of any kind,  especially those under acne scars, can be helped in the regeneration process.

Which target group is great for Microneedling treatment?

People with …

  • Wrinkles and crow’s feet
  • Bad skin structure
  • Light damaged skin
  • Slack tissue
  • Big pores
  • Acne Scars
  • Stretch marks

When will the result be visible to me?

The result is visible after 6-8 weeks

How many treatments do I need?

In order to achieve a long-term skin structure improvement (wrinkle reduction, scar treatment, etc.) it is recommended to have 3-5 treatments.

At what intervals do the treatments take place?

The distance should be between 2-4 weeks

Can I go out after treatment?

After Microneedling treatment skin is usually very red (it often lasts for the first day) but already after the first day, it can be covered with light makeup.

What is Microneedling

Who should not be treated?

  • People under 18 years
  • In pregnancy as well as lactation
  • Acute or chronic diseases in the treatment area (for example, herpes, acne, psoriasis)
  • Taking blood thinners
  • Haemophiliac
  • Keloid inclination
  • Diabetic
  • If you recently took laser treatment or chemical peels

After a long and intensive research, I have once again received intensive advice from Mrs Bihler -my esthetic- and have taken my first treatment.

After my treatment

After the Microneedling treatment, my face was very red (symptoms are like a light sunburn) and make-up has to be avoided for a day. Since I wasn’t ready to scare my sweetheart and my environment with a paprika face, I ‘ve decided to spend the rest of the day at home and to relax. In the evening, I supplied my facial skin with the appropriate care products (cleansing, cream) that I received from Mrs Bihler. It is very important not to use conventional care products, as the skin after a Microneedling is very receptive and unwanted substances can easily get into the deep layers of the skin. In addition, with the right care, you can support the effect that you actually want to achieve.

1. Day after the treatment

One day after the treatment, my face wasn’t so redly and I was allowed to use makeup again.  I used to continuously supply my face with the provided products and cream with a very high sun protection factor like the day before. (all skin products I received from Mrs Bihler).

2. Further days after the treatment

My skin felt dry and tense slightly, but the redness had largely disappeared.

3. What should I look for after treatment

    • 3 days no sweat sports/work
    • 14 days waiver of sauna visits
    • 4 weeks no sunbathing / solarium
    • Sunscreen SPF 30+ daily for 4 weeks
    • No laser treatment in the area of the treatment area
    • 4 weeks no chemical peels

4. Weeks after the treatment

After 4 weeks, I already noticed a big change ☺
As promised, my pores have shrunk, slight bumps like a pimple on the cheek that disturbed me were almost gone. My very dry skin no longer tensed and my pale complexion radiated again.

My conclusion

I can recommend this treatment to anyone who has a bit of patience, because the result will only be visible after a few weeks, but then the surprise effect and the wonderment of how this treatment works will be more than overwhelming.

I will definitely take another treatment ☺
